This blog is a means to bring (sexy) nature back.  There are so many products on the  market that don’t have the exposure of the big company advertizing, but the products are so much better, for you, and the environment.

They give us such pleasure externally, why wouldn’t we want to take them internally? Every day take in the essence of an herb or flower. This time of year, especially in New England, we are looking to keep warm. Try adding some cinnamon, ginger or cardamom to your hot teas, any hot drink, like a cider or even hot cereals.

These herbs not only will keep you warm, but will stave away infection, prevent mouth and throat troubles and protect your lungs from being invaded by external pathogens.

5 Steps to a Naturally Beautiful Face

1. 1 cup antioxidant juice(acai,any berry), 1 cup herbal tea, 1 cup water

2. cleanse face with mild glycerin soap

3. steam 2 cups water, add calming herbs(lavender/rose buds, chamomile) face over large bowl for 2-5 minutes

4. spritz toner of witch hazel, let face dry

5. moisturize with gel of aloe vera

Why would anyone really want to immerse themselves in D and C RED NO.8 or HYDROQUINONE, really? Are these even words?(haha! even spell check asked me if this is a word..uber funny!)

Organics entered my life as a massage therapist. I knew I would be immersed in lotions and creams all day and I couldn’t read the labels on the jars of cream distributed by my school. They said it was therapeutic, but I had that feeling of a brick sitting in my stomach every time I read the label and couldn’t pronounce half the words displayed on the jar. So, a gut feeling, a feeling we all should know to listen to, sent me looking for books of ingredients on the internet.

What I found was very disturbing. Something had to be done(threw my cape on!)duntduntdahh… this was the beginning of my journey into the rabbit hole! I became an aromatherapist and started creating  skin care lotions and creams. Then came the politics, oh no! I never liked politics, yes, an avertion to it, but there was no other way to understand why anyone would ever put ingredients in products that are meant for humans, (babies “baby oil”/mineral oil ). A mixture of refined liquid hydrocarbons derived from petroleum..huh? The stuff we put in our cars??? Oh our cars, petroleum, government, war and the all mighty dollar! As they say, ‘follow the money trail’ and you shall find your answer.  They have made a believer out of me, when I so much didn’t want to be.

 It is urgent for all of us, as consumers, parents and friends to take time to READ labels. In this country it is a blessing (maybe in disguise) to have lists of ingredients. Empower yourself and the people around you to know what is really good for them. As I said in my earlier blog, it is our buying dollars that demand what is produced.

Here is a great site that has listings of 52,183 products with 8,810 ingredients, Skin Deep, a cosmetic safety base, http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/about.php. You can type in the name of just about any body care product in your home and it will give you its safety reading and what is in it.

I will be including a daily new ingredient for you to learn about. Just so you can imagine the havoc it can reek on the human body, pets and our environment.

So, back to the holiday spirit! Another post is coming your way to enlighten you throughout this season. There are  many ways to bring  joy and pleasure to the ones you love through gift giving. Be sure to show each other love by loving your mother(Mother Earth), the one who sustains you, you will be forever cared for.  As they say give and you shall receive.

 There are many of you out there that believe in what I do so much that I have to find a way to make this blog work. I have the knowledge , the energy and the passion to share enormous amounts of information concerning healing, beauty and everything truly organic.

Lets start out with why this blog is important. Grean and Black are profound colors in my immediate world.

Green represents “The Mother” the one who sustains us. How can I as a bodyworker, mother, and friend take care of the place that sustains me? Lets begin with easy, simple ways to integrate new behaviors daily.

 Always be open to new ways to recycle, reuse and most of all, be conscious of where our $$money$$ is being spent. As I have researched and learned from many green experts… our $$money$$ is what determines what is being produced for the masses.

So if spending is like voting, we must put our $$money$$ on what products we would like to “win” even if it costs a few dollars more now, later, the cost will be less, based on demand.

The Black represents people of color. When you look at the statistics of consumers of depreciating products (cars, clothes, alcohol etc.) blacks dominate in this category.

Another reason for wanting to reach out to this community is to give education and empowerment. It would be awesome to see better, more informed decisions made with their $$’s. A light needs to be cast onto business and products that are creating health and wealth by making conscious, educated choices to move away from producing self deprecating products.

Now you know why I am here. Let the fun begin!

Let’s start with a few of my favorite companies. I will continue to highlight products and services. There are many that call themselves “green”, but on my journey through “productland” I’ve discovered something called “greenwashing” I am dedicating a whole section on my blog to expose companies and products new “green” selling tactics.

We are gonna get down and dirty! I will reveal organic products unlike any others…the excitement of finding products so unadulterated has been a task in itself, but once found its orgasmic… organically ;0)

Continuing the search for purely organic products, there lies the question about our food. My blog will have a section dedicated to food called “Doin’ it Raw”.  This will be a guide to understanding the connections between food/health and beauty.

My blog will also be focused on the link between our product consuption and the people and land that have been used, shining a light on charitible acts of companies that are giving back to “The Mother”.
